About Xenon Dukes
Xenon Dukes is the solo project of singer and multi-instrumentalist, Ben Granger. Ben started playing and writing music starting in High School around 2011, and has been playing solo and full band sets at local Long Island venues ever since. Ben’s recording career started in High School when he started posting instrumental electronic songs on SoundCloud under the name SEYMOUR. He found his confidence to play live at the informal songwriter’s club at his school, known as “The K Sessions” named for his English teacher, Mark Karwoski, who hosted the sessions in his classroom after school. During college, Ben would semi-regularly play open mic performances at Long Island venues like The Velvet Lounge and Portside. It’s around this time that Ben started going by the name Xenon Dukes when playing live. After college, Ben started working on putting together his first album, composed of songs he had written starting as early as High School. The album was recorded at Flying Carpet studio with producer and mixer Matt Lagattuta, drummer Tom Lacoste, and bassist Nick Towler. The first Xenon Dukes album, Maiden Voyage, was recorded between February and March of 2022. The record was released in July of 2022. It’s a collection of love and break-up songs, sequenced to show the progression of a single relationship from beginning to end. Since the release of Maiden Voyage, Ben has joined the Long Island band Hookset as their bassist, and is working on a follow up record.
